COMMUNITY SERVICE

Community Service is one of the core mandates of private colleges in Ethiopia. Community service (CS) helps to solve societal problem, enhance socio-economic development and advance the lives of the society. As one of the private College in Ethiopia, SATA Technology and Business College (STBC) considers CS as one of its major missions. The legality of this mandate is clearly stipulated in higher education institutions establishing proclamation and the college Senate Legislation. The college was established as basic computer skill training center in 2002 EC. After two years in 2004 EC the center upgraded to Technical and vocational education training (TVET) Since then, the TVET has trained substantial number of professionals that are serving the country at different capacities. After four years of teaching with TVET level, the institute was upgraded  to undergraduate program with the name SATA college on September, 2015 (2008 EC).

Currently, STBC is organized into four degree level programs and five TVET level departments with two TVET programs such as IT and Business sector. These are hosted in one campus, namely: STBC Main Campus at Arbaminch town Teachers association building and the near by SWS buildings;

There are 4 degree program department such as accounting and finance in regular and extension program. Management program both in regular and extension and Information technology and computer science in both regular and extension program..

The TVET level train students with two programs Information Technology and Business Sectors. Under IT sector students were trained with hard ware and data base services with different level from level 1 up to 4. In business sectors students were trains with accounting, human resource and secretary science

The CS undertakings are oriented to the needs of the local community in particular and the nation in general. Hence, the intervention areas need to be identified. This policy document is, therefore, highlights the mission, vision, goals, objectives, CS policy directions and strategies of STBC.

Vision

STBC CS core process aspires to be a leading demand driven CS provider in Ethiopia; and become center of excellence in consultancy service in the field of Business leadership development and information technology management, Ethiopia by 2025.

Mission

Community service in STBC has a mission of solving communities social and economic problems via mobilization of the college’s human, material and financial resources as well as research outputs that would contribute to the well-being of the wider society and thereby to the growth and development of the country.
